The International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses (IFAR) is an independent forum established to advocate for the lifetime care of retired racehorses, to increase awareness within the international racing community of this important responsibility and to increase awareness in the sport horse world regarding the versatility of the Thoroughbred horse.

In October 2025, IFAR and TCA announced a strategic partnership that will help IFAR continue to grow while retaining its governance structure and global focus. TCA will contribute its administrative capability and long-standing industry experience, while IFAR’s global remit will introduce an international dimension that amplifies the two organizations’ shared vision for effective Thoroughbred aftercare.
