21st Annual TCA Stallion Season Auction Set for Jan. 8

The 21st annual Thoroughbred Charities of America Select Stallion Season Auction, will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Ky. The cocktail party-style event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and drinks followed by the Select Season Auction at 8:00 p.m.

The auction will feature seasons to 29 stallions including:

Stallions marked with an “*” indicate a free return to the stallion in 2012 should the mare not get in foal or not produce a live foal.

In addition to the stallion seasons, auction items will include a walk-on role on HBO’s “Luck”, a box at Santa Anita Park and two nights accommodations; University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball “ball kid” experience (subject to SEC and UK rules and regulations); WinStar Farm guest house stay; Palmetto Bluffs vacation home; Triple Crown ticket package; a sports package featuring tickets to the Breeders’ Cup, U.S. Open Golf and the Indianapolis 500; a Vespa Scooter and more.

Lori Neagle of Kentucky Equine Humane Center will be honored with the TCA Industry Service Award and Darley will be honored with the TCA Leadership Award.

The Select Stallion Season Auction will be preceded by a telephone auction to be held from Wednesday, January 5 through Friday, January 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. The majority of TCA’s seasons will be sold during the telephone auction with the select seasons going into the live auction on January 8. The telephone auction hotline is (859) 276-4989. TCA was formed in 1990 to raise and distribute funds for charities in the Thoroughbred industry which provide a better life for Thoroughbreds both during and after their racing careers by supporting retirement, rescue, research and by helping the people who work with them. TCA is the charitable arm of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA).
