The TeleCommunications Association (TCA) was founded in 1961 by six telecommunications professionals who recognized the advantage of creating a regional professional association for their industry. They felt that such an organization would encourage the exchange of information, ideas and experiences, as well as encouraging the development of and exposure to new products and services.

The six professionals who formed TCA came from:

  • North American Aviation (Now Rockwell International Corporation)
  • Security First National Bank (Now Bank of America)
  • Lockheed Aircraft Company (Lockheed Corporation)
  • General Precision, Inc. (Librascope Group)
  • Aerospace Corporation
  • Philco Ford (Aeronutronics Division)

In 1969, TCA was incorporated in the State of California as a nonprofit mutual benefit organization. In 1971, the membership of the organization was so widespread that chapters were formed to preserve the original concept of regional representation. By January 1, 1986, TCA had expanded from the original group based in Los Angeles, California, to an organization with members in most of the United States and numerous countries around the world.

Today, TCA has expanded to include telecommunications and IT professionals from both the public and private sectors. This web site is produced by TCA. TCA was formed in 1990, and currently has over 100 members. The membership draws heavily from the Capitol's State and federal employees, as well as from the region's extensive high-tech industry.
